 There once was a king who called for the spring 봄이 오기를 바라던 왕이 있었어요

For his world was still covered in snow,그의 나라는 여전히 눈으로 덮여 있었기 때문이죠

 

But the Spring had not been,하지만 그 왕은 사악하고 야비했기 때문에

For he was wicked and mean,봄이 오지를 않았어요.

In his winter-fields그의 왕국에 있는 겨울 들판에는

nothing would grow 아무것도 자라나지 않았지요.

And when a traveller 여행자가 문앞에서

Called seeking help at the door, 오로지 하룻밤 식량과 재워달라고

Only food and a bed for the night, 도움을 구했을 때

He ordered his slave to turn her away, 왕은 하인을 시켜 그녀를 쫓아내 버렸어요

The girl with April in her eyes 4월의 눈동자를 지닌 소녀를 말이예요.

Oh, oh, oh, on and on she goes,오... 그녀는

Through the winter's night, 모진 바람과 눈보라 속에서

The wild wind and the snow, 추운 겨울 밤새도록 가고 있어요.

Hi, hi, hi, on and on she rides, 내내 달렸어요.

Someone help  누군가

The girl with April in her eyes 4월의 눈동자를 지닌 그 소녀를 도와 주었으면...

She rode through the night 그녀는 숲속에 있는 겸손한

Till she came to the light, 사람이 사는 초가의 빛을 찾게 될때까지

Of a humble man's home in the woods,밤이 새도록 걸었지요 .

He brought her inside,그는 그녀를 집안 난로가 곁으로 데려왔어요.

By the firelight she died,그녀는 세상을 떠나고 말았습니다.

And he buried her gently and good 그는 그녀를 자상하게 묻어 주었어요.

Oh the morning was bright, 아침이 되자 눈으로 덮힌

All the world was snow-white, 온세상이 환하게 밝아졌어요.

But when he came to the place where she lay, 그가 그녀가 묻힌 곳으로 찾아 왔을 때

His field was ablaze 그의 뜰은 4월의 눈동자를 지닌

With flowers on the grave, 소녀의 무덤위에 꽃들이

Of the girl with April in her eyes 울긋불긋 피어나 있었어요.

Oh, oh, oh, on and on she goes, 오.... 그녀는

Through the winter's night, 모진 바람과 눈보라 속에서

the wild wind and the snow 추운 겨울 밤새도록 지내다가

Hi, hi, hi, on and on she flies, 그녀는 하늘 나라로...

She is gone, 그녀는 이제 세상을 떠나고 없어요.
