매번 내가 성경책을 들여다 볼 때면 나는 떨곤 합니다.
나는 목수가 성전을 조용하게 하는 대목을 읽을 때면
모든 파는 사람들이나, 사는 사람들이 다른 사람들이 아니었습니다
남들이 알고 있는 나와 그리고 그 사실을 알고 마음이 아팠습니다.
나는 경건해야 하지만 결코 그런 사람이 못됩니다.

우리 엄마는 내게 기도하는 법을 가르쳐주셨네
내가 채 일곱살도 되기전에
그리고 내가 무릎을 꿇으면 그 때 비로소 나는 하늘과 가까워지네
